Introductory Sociology CLEP Prep Practice Exam

Research is a systematic inquiry that involves collecting, analyzing and interpreting data to answer a specific question or test a hypothesis. A quantitative study, a survey, and an ethnography all involve elements of research, such as data collection and analysis. Watching TV, on the other hand, does not involve any systematic inquiry or gathering of data, and therefore would not be considered a form of research. It is a recreational activity and does not follow the characteristics of research.
